I bought a bunch of bamboo whistles and flutes from this vendor and had him demonstrate each one. It will take some practice, and more before I can coax any of them to warble or chirp. Maybe I should have gotten just the dog whistle to see if the dogs back home are on the same frequency.

The easiest of them all, the Uguisu flute. But you have to know how the Japanese bush warbler sings to get it right.
